Lukose’s visit to Europe

“I left for Europe on the 7th October for a one month trip, visiting friends in Switzerland, the Netherlands and the UK. It was such a joy to meet up with Ken without whom my trip was not possible. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the people who made my visit so comfortable. I was so happy to meet Doreen Aunty, Larry and Joan, all those who came for the open day programme at the Heards, Chacko Thomas, Graham Jack, Bruce and Sarah Clark, Anna and Daphne and Pastor Ken Persuad and the fellowship at NHCC. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and thank you for your prayers and support to our family.”

Good News Clubs

Over 200 children annually receive new school bags, umbrellas and school books enabling them to attend school. These children come from very needy backgrounds. The parents appreciate the weekly input from CSSI workers

The two tailoring centres at Chenkara and Kanchiyar are progressing well and some students are setting up their own businesses in their own villages when they qualify. It’s so encouraging to see them start to fulfil their true potential.

The Self Help Groups continue to support each other with finances to help in times of need. Relationships with the CSSI staff are giving opportunities for prayer and support in their own homes.

Medical clinics

Over 350 patients in Pratappur and Gadarbagan were seen by two doctors and a pharmacist over two days and given medication from painkillers to water tablets, worm tablets to vitamins. Most of these patients would never be able to afford to see a doctor. One man who had had an operation on his foot had to go straight back to the fields to work but this caused an infection.

Thankfully he received treatment and his filthy bandage was replaced by a clean one. Extra medication was purchased with donations given from supporters. Because of this practical demonstration of God’s love, it helps to build bridges in the community with CSSI. Pastor Sahadeb and the team would love to hold more medical clinics. If you would like to be a part of making this happen, please do get in touch. With your help we could do so much more.

Painted School

CSSI Trustees Pam and Steve Frost visited Pratappur and the villages last October taking with them rollers and brushes to paint the school. Director Shaji Amos and Pam worked tirelessly with the teachers to transform the school building. Even the women wanted to have a go, quite an unusual sight in the villages!

News from Shaji

On 22nd January I am going to the village with  a sponsor from the USA  who is interested in school projects.  The mission is to see our school upgraded so that we can better equip more children to have a quality education.

Hands of Compassion from Canada is partnering with us for a soy project to produce soy milk  and other soy food products. We have already launched this project in the slum. The project will start supplying milk to our slum school by March.  Then we are taking this project to the village with the partnership with the same organisation.  They will develop a project  Farm to Product cultivating soy bean from the farm by the local farmers, we will take the farm product to produce milk.  The organisation also have a project to teach workers to market the product.

These are two major projects for this year.

Latest news report from Steve and Pam

A lick of paint transforms Development Centre

Director of CSSI in India Shaji Amos bought paint, rollers and brushes to spruce up the centre which has recently been cemented. After a little instruction, they finished the side wall in just two hours! The workers brought a great deal of enthusiasm and labour, and even the women had a go. Two rooms in the centre were also painted.

Knitted Hats

Around 500 knitted hats were distributed to children from six of the eight villages visited. It was lovely to see the excitement and joy as they were given hats as well as biscuits and lollipops/

Medical Camp

Two doctors were employed to visit a couple of villages over two days. Medication was given out to many who would not be able to afford to see the doctor. Extra medication was purchased with donations given from supporters.

CHILD SPONSORSHIP

The photos below shows two of the children that are being sponsored at the moment. We are looking for more sponsors to enable these children and young people to fulfil their potential.

The sponsorship at £15 per month will enable the children to get extra tuition, medical support, a nutritious meal, school uniform and classroom materials. In the children sponsored so far, a real

difference has been in their progress. Would you consider sponsoring a child?

Carpenter given tools

A young carpenter was given some tools and asked to make a spool for the cable that goes to the generator. With these tools he will be able to work for himself and support his family as well. We were also able to give out footballs to most of the villages.

It would be good if we could get hold of some football kit…any offers?
